WE ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS THROUGH PAYPAL. Seller: Alley-Antiques DESCRIPTION: Our opening bid is our reserve. Staffordshire Transferware. Beautiful deep dark blue transfer plate with a Historical American View being sold as-is. The plate is from the "Vine Border" series by Ralf Stevenson (1810-1832). The view is of the "Hospital, Boston". Marked with a printed pattern and makers initials. This plate dates back to the 1820s to circa 1825. Vivid deep dark blue color. The ink is so thick that when tilted the buildings, trees, etc.. stand out. Nice early view of the Hospital with a horse and buggy in the front. Condition is as-is. T is an old crack that was stabilized on the back using a putty of some sort (probably done 50 to 75 years ago). The crack is hard to find on the front because of the pattern and deep color. Although the crack looks long on the back, the crack only goes through the front about 2 1/4" and is hard to find. The plate is nice and clean with a shiny glaze and little or no wear. Typical clear crazing. No other chips, cracks, or repairs. The plate displays very well on the front and is a very nice display piece. Nice hard to find view. Measures about 9 1/4" in diameter.
