Edinburgh; and Hurst, Robinson, and Co., London, 1822 First Edition. THE FORTUNES OF NIGEL by the Author of "Waverley" SIR WALTER SCOTT. 313, 334, 349 pages plus 6 pages of publishers ads at the rear. "The Fortunes of Nigel" is set in the reign of King James VI and is a story of a mixture of sense and nonsense, pedantics and childishness, wit and folly. Bound in green leather spines and board corners over marble boards, leather titles to the spines, decorated end papers, marble outer page edges. Condition : The spines are sun faded, lacking the leather title to volume 1, the title to volume two has the bottom corner torn off, the title to volume three is present and undamaged, the spine ends and board corners have light rubbing, the boards and outer page edges are dusty, the end papers, free end papers, half title, title and text pages have varying degrees of spotting but overall are in good, clean condition, the inner hinges and text block are firm, no inscriptions. Overall this is a GOOD first edition, three volume set, of a CLASSIC, TIMELESS novel.
