You are bidding on a super rare 181 year old genuine antique hand colored map of the above region and year from the extremely rare 1827 edition of the New General Atlas. The 1827 edition is now almost impossible to find and sells for around thousands of dollars, so this is a great deal unless you want to purchase a whole atlas and spend many, many thousands of dollars. Cartographer: Anthony Finley was among the greatest American map makers of the Federal period, publishing maps in Philadelphia rather than selling imported ones. In addition to his New General Atlas , published in various editions from 1824 and later, Finley published pocket maps for travelers and wall maps for school use. He often collaborated with the renowned cartographers and engravers of the Philadelphia area such as J.H. Young and Henry S. Tanner. This map is NOT a copy or reproduction and is an original antique map from the atlas and year shown. General Description: 1. This stunning map displays original hand coloring in wonderfully intense colors. It is noteworthy because of its vivid hand coloration and precise engraving, as well as for its size and detail. Political boundaries as well as individual regions/counties and shows towns, roads, railways, rivers, lakes, bays, harbors, islands and other important places. 2. The map is in excellent condition considering the age of the map. The overall size of the map sheet is very large at approximately 14 inches by 11 inches. The map is far more beautiful than my pictures show. This map will look wonderful when matted and framed and will be a great addition to your collection. 3. The map is a 100% orignal and genuine antique map. - I do not sell copies. I will send you a copy of the title page as well that shows the 1827 date. The map looks far nicer than my pictures show. Other eBay sellers are selling copies, so please do not be fooled. 4. Full gallery value is many times my asking price. 5.
