A Military Journal During The American Revolutionary War, From 1775 to 1783 by James Thacher, M.D., Late Surgeon in the American Army Published by Cottons & Barnard, Boston. Fair to Good Condition hardcover book. 1827 on title page. First edition was in 1823. Exterior: Shopworn full leather binding. Gilt lettering on hubbed spine. Clear tape across spine back at top and bottom, onto front and back boards. Hinges cracked. Interior: Publisher incorrectly collated this book. It is missing pages 3 to 11, 346, 347, 467 to 474 (211 to 218 duplicated). Endpapers are soiled, toned, have names and date in pencil (1866). 1st few pages have tears in gutter. Ink writing on title page. Pages of rag paper are wavy, generally clean, (few soiled spots), toned. 487 pages including index (which is titled Contents). Dust Jacket: None issued. Contents: This a great offer for collectors of old books. For those interested in early American history this material is very interesting and readable. Subject matter includes taxation without representation, Boston Tea Party, British obliged to kill horses, scarcity of provisions, Benedict Arnold, arrival of French Fleet, General Washington addresses Congress, number of men lost during American War, so much more.
