New York, Johnson, Fry, & co, 1827. Oversize hardcover (11in x 9 x 2.5) bound in full leather with ornate gilt tooling to cover and spine. Five raised bands on spine, all page edges gilt. Condition: VG. The boards show definite rubbing, there are minimal library markings (catalog # on spine, bookplate inside cover, library card pastedown inside rear cover), otherwise this book is great - pages are bright, unmarked, and the binding is tight. Comes profusely illustrated with b&w engravings (all present as issued). This book is from the rare book room of the college of holy names in Oakland California, and has been well cared for (including a very neat and sturdy front hinge reinforcement on the signature of ffep - see picture). A lovely copy.
