In addition to being collectable because of the content of the letter, or the writer, or the addressee, it is a collectable item of postal history because of the rates, markings and usage .And in this case--the item travelled in both the U.S. and Canadian postal systems: Across the Borders.An amazing 1830 Beautiful Transatlantic Cross-Border folded letter datelined "London 30th Decr 1830" that went from LONDON to NEW YORK to MONTREAL to QUEBEC.Datelined "London 30th Decr 1830" and addressed to "Mr. James Hunt, Quebec."The sender annotated the obverse, "Per Florida [name of vessel that made the transatlantic crossing] Via New York. The addressee docketed the obverse with the name of the sender and the date of the letter "Newman & Frost & Christopher 30th Decr 1830."This letter was probably in the ship captain's mail--no British postmark.
