eBay's largest sellers use AuctionLynxx to increase sales... shouldn't you? 1830s Polychrome English Ironstone Flowblue 19" Well and Tree Platter ~ NO RESERVE ~ This antique flow blue well and tree platter is simply amazing! The well and tree, also known as the tree of life, are decorative and add another dimension to the design, but also had a more practical use- the channels and well caught the liquids or drippings from what was being served. In that way they could be spooned out and used au jus. I found one similar to this but smaller in size for sale in England for $595.00...PLUS shipping of $124! Made between 1837 and 1890 by J. Meir & Son of Tunstall, England and marked Affghanistan Vase, which denotes the pattern name. Marked with the numbers 1/102 in gold. In excellent condition for a piece of this size and age. Spectacular polychrome decorations adorn this huge antique platter in red, green, violet, blue, brown and gold. Light blue floral decorations were also added under the rim. One of the largest antique well and tree platters I've ever seen, measuring an enormous 19 3/4" by 15 3/4" and standing 2 1/2" high on its raised base! The only flaw noted is one small old chip on the base. This is a true Ebay treasure...rare and valuable. A one of a kind piece and a once in a lifetime opportunity to own this spectacular showpiece. This piece deserves someone special. Will it be you? Insurance suggested a nd as always, thanks for looking...
