Contents: EULOGY OF CHARLES CARROLL OF CARROLLTON - delivered by John Sergeant on December 31st, 1832. Sergeant states 'the pen of Carroll was among the first that were actively and successfully engaged on the side of the colonies' and describes the occasion on which Carroll wrote under the signature 'First Citizen', exhibiting 'a power and patriotic energy which immediately engaged universal attention'. Includes the introduction and preparatory prayer by Rev. William White. More. - 150 column inches [ Front Page ] U.S. FRIGATE POTOMAC- was rumored lost in the South Seas. An extract of a letter from Commodore John Downes fo the United States Frigate Potomac removed doubts as to the safety of the crew and frigate. Notes their latitude, longitude and the date. Downes wrote that he expected to arrive in Valparaiso in 4 or 5 days. - 2 column inches [ Third Page ] Died: Peter Schavendike, Jr. - in the 32d year of his age at Louisville, KY. Brief [ Third Page ] William Rush- in the 77th year of his age. Brief [ Third Page ] Thomas Simple- better known as 'Tom the Crier' and at Buffula as 'Whistling Tom'. Deceased at Batavia, New York.
