Up for auction a rare and original piece of Brooklyn history, a signed indenture, made between Pliny Freeman and William Law, selling three lots on the corner of Hoyt and Baltic Streets in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn, for the sum of $6000, quite a bit of money in 1835. Pliny Freedman was an insurance company president and early developer in Brooklyn; he was one of the original founder of Green-Wood Cemetery. Indenture is signed by both Pliny Freeman and his wife, Sarah Freeman, as well as by lawyers and witnesses. A large indenture, on a pre-printed Warrantee Deed printed and sold by Van Vleck & Davenport. Deed is dated October 1, 1835. Entirely original. Some addenda attached to back sheet, and small tear on rear page. 04.11.023
