Sandwich Glass Company type medium cobalt blue colored pressed pattern flint glass six inch bowl or nappie in very good as found condition . Probably New England , Boston area but commonly "Midwestern" attributed., 1840. Guaranteed old and original; this is not a fake or reproduction. Actual weight 1 1/4 lbs. 6 3/8" diameter by 1 ½" deep to the bowl rim. Sandwich Glass Company type medium cobalt blue colored pressed pattern flint glass six inch bowl or nappie in very good as found condition. Good ring. We found this in the kitchen while sorting through the cupboards. It is the only "old dish" like this we found. One had set it down as no account and two jumped on it as great account and were washing and coveting this little nappy before the highest authority of the estate cleanout discovered them and had to order them away. Itâe(tm)s the blue; it drives everyone nuts that old blue glass with it faintest hint of gray. Once one is imbued with the hue of old blue glass, one's eye is a perpetual addict in addition to have a course snub of those who "don't see the difference" between old cobalt glass andâe¦ "the rest of it". The fight was over but the contesting of "what it is" went on. "A nappie" in old cobalt flint glass with one of those pure simple patterns that could be pulled out of a crude mold. We found nothing identical but did not try very hard. See Barlow 1140 & 1141 nappie "on foot" and Spillman 962. The ring is great. The color is great. The glass quality is dead on. It's right out of that kitchen cupboard, as found. Very good as found condition. T is a single ¾" x 1/8" outer & upper rim edge flake at 12:00 . On the underside of the rim are perpetual & minor mold removal flakes; all around the underside of the rimâe¦ with about eight of them being bigger but still being mold removal flakes. On the upper side t are three similar mold removal rim flakes only. Otherwise t is no other damage or manufacturing flaw and this is a sincerely delightful piece of old cobalt blue glass. Please see photographs. As found last August in a Montville , Maine estate. Seeking things fresh found in attics? We done nothing to it at all; it is just as we found it. It looks like good one to us! We offer this classic & early Sandwich type cobalt blue flint glass six inch dish or nappie for $4.99 NR..
