Staffordshire soft paste clay body blue romantic style transfer ware TINY MINIATURE 2 3/4" plate of extremely fine and superior mold in perfect condition , as found . England , 1840-1860. Guaranteed old and original; this is not a fake or reproduction. Actual weight 1/4 lbs. 2 3/4" diameter. We are listing the old English paste Staffordshire from a Falmouth Foreside estate we purchased at the end of September. This is the precious gem of our china discoveries in this estate. Grubbing around within what was by far a much cleaner estate than we normally excavate, two of us were disassembling an attached iron fireplace mantel and door, ca. 1920's, that was used to block the dining room fireplace. An iron support brace was bolted behind the wood paneling inside a cupboard behind it's door. Opening the cupboard's door, getting down on all fours and sticking the head in to see the bolt's nut, my partner's hand promptly appeared, soiled with it's fireplace residue, holding this plate. Evidently once carefully stored and treasured, someone forgot it... and then we didn't notice it... and it was only this chance demolition excursion that ...discovered and saved... this ...astonishingly fine miniature transfer ware plate... in perfect condition. The absolute factor elevating this tiny treasure to supreme delight is the very thin and finest fine of the mold cast plate. Perfect proportion in design, the petite jewel is also in perfect proportion in density. It has a rewarding slenderness and fragility that so compliments the miniature scale and the mind's eye desire that it is hard to convey in words. Perfect as found condition. Aside from some very, very minor and usual in-the-making-imperfections, the tiny plate is in perfect original condition. Right out of the dining room cupboard, the plate has lightest estate soiling from it's estate residence. Please see photographs. As found in September in a Falmouth Foreside, Maine estate .
