Here is a great 1840s-1850s Henry Disston saw with the "optimistic eagle" 1" medallion. Go to the Disstonian webpage and you will see that this is the 1840s-1850s pre Civil War medallion, and the "wave" Henry Disston blade stamp is way rare. This was way before etching was invented and they stamped the blades. Yes, I know the end of the saw is broken off, but this is a rare, museum grade piece of tool history. You Disston fans know that Henry brought his son into the business in 1861 and the stamp changed to H. Disston and Son, later to Sons. I believe the handle to be cherry.
