Title : Kaga no Chiyo ( 加賀のチ代 )Artist: Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861). 797-1861D escription : Chiyo of Kaga at a well carrying a bucket. From Stories of Wise Women and Faithful Wives Series. Measures 9 15/16" wide x 14 1/2" long (oban). (Silk backed poster board backing is 12" x 16"). Iba-ya Sensaburô ( 伊場屋仙三郎 ) Publisher. Toshidama seal. Circa 1841-1842.Condition : There are a few small holes - mainly a cluster at the center bottom. There is a center crease and softer creases here and there. There may have been two stabilization restorations to the far ends of the center crease (there are two photo close ups of these areas shown from the back side). Light edge soiling. The upper edge is pasted down to a silk backing. The backing consists of an old cardboard movie poster (1932 Tom Mix, Mickey Rooney in My Pal, The King) that was wrapped in silk. The right and left edge of the silk is cut and shows some fraying. I have taken several photos that show elements of condition issues. Please use them to understand condition most fully. Thank You.Further Information about this print can be found at the Kuniyoshi Project website.
