Early 19th C. Pennsylvania German Scnschnitte Dated and Signed Cutwork 14 3/4" wide x 12 1/2" tallMounted over mat and beautifully framed with outer dimensions of 21" x 18 1/2" Offered is a stunning cut paper Scnschnitte with elaborate folk art motifs of birds nestled in vines of ivy leaves with the occasional tulip and incorporating the creator's name and date of May 10, 1841 as part of its design. The Scnschnitte is in superb condition with very mild staining visible only at the edges of the piece, no tears in the elaborate central folk art design, and only a miniscule loss of paper at the bottom margin (see photo at left). The original paper cutting artist's name, Lydia Brown, is cleverly cut into the central motif of the design, as well as the date of May 10, 1841. The fragile paper parchment Scnschnitte has been mounted by a previous owner onto cream colored mat board and framed under glass in a very attractive modern wood frame, which attractively preserves and complements the antique piece. A truly beautiful example of American folk art with desirable dated provenance to the early 19th century! Shipping will be $35.00 via UPS ground mail in the U.S. I accept checks, money orders and Paypal as payment on my auctions. Due to the size of the piece and the fragile glass framing, this item will only be shipped to locations in the United States. Please check my other listings for more great vintage items . I will happily combine shipping to save you money. The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.
