1842 Boston Directory w/ African American Citizen List. Rare original 1842 Stimpson's Boston directory listing names and addresses, occupations and businesses in the city of Boston, Massachusetts with separate directory of African Americans living in Boston titled "People of Color", also with occupations. Published by Charles Stimpson, Boston 1842, 519pp. Has fold out map of Boston and includes pages before the title page filled with advertising for Railroad with nice wood block of the Nashua & Boston Express Train, Coaches & Buggy's with wood block, Drug Stores, Book Store, Hair Dresser, Printing, etc, etc. Think the most interesting part of the directory are the pages listing Free Black African Americans as to their addresses and some of their Occupations. Also has section on City Government, Legislature, Banks, Insurance Companies, Custom Houses, Fire Department, Constables, Charitable Societies, etc, a real treasure trove of information for the collector or historical researcher. Condition is good, tight, all pages are present, cover and spine good, just shows a little wear, few small tears on one of the advertising pages, binding a little loose where it meats the front cover, almost no foxing. Great piece for the researcher, black item or directory collector.I accept Paypal payments for credit card users. No merchandise will
