This auction is for a spectacular WORKING 1844 Station Master's Pocket Watch with 24 hour dial. Runs Great! The year, (X1844) is scratched onto the inside cover and NOT engraved. Having said this, I see no reason not to believe this to be the actual date. The watch is obviously from that period and both Rudd and Neilson are listed as local businessmen in Perth Ontario in 1850. Another reference to the maker's notes the 'Company's' donation of a wall clock to the new Perth church in the late 1800's, not by them, by name, (don't recall year off hand). Speaking of engravings, t are none, no initials etc. The maker's name appears on the enamel face, as well as on the movement, (as seen in pics). Inside back cover is stamped, "National, 463588". Also is very, very small is ['610' inside of a box], [3592], [R11 7358], [5706], and [5637] and one other series of 4 numbers that I can not make out. These are all scratched on, but are so small I can only see them with a jeweller's loop. As stated, stamped on the works are the maker's names and address, plus 'Safetypinion.', (whatever that means) and serial #12940602. I can not see anyw how many jewels and do not know how to check? The dial has a 2" face diameter. The glass is near perfect, (must have been changed) and the back has very minor expected scuffing. No scratches, dents, chips, breaks anyw that I can see!!! It is a beautiful, beautiful watch. I'm told that this belonged to the Station Master in Perch, but have no way of proving that. I love this watch that I've only had a few very short days and have to sell it now before I change my mind. Please contact me with any questions and/or any facts you may wish to contribute. NO RESERVE!!! Shipping to anyw in North America is $8.00. Please check out my many other interesting listings, including another Vintage Railway Collectible Piece. Thank You and Good Luck!
