Another remarkable southern letter that we are posting on eBay.... this is a detailed 3 page stampless folded letter written January 6, no year date but based on the rate mark this was mid 1840s - written by W.T. Withers in Cynthiana, Kentucky and sent to his cousin John Boyd in Danville, Mercer County, KY. As part of the estate, he references a list of negroes (slaves) that were part of the estate shares.... Also an interesting description of a man who was injured in a prank by friends who tied him up and sent him down a snowy hill - description is quite interesting. I really only skimmed this letter but more study will reward you. Enlarged scans provided. Postmark is a red Cynthiana CDS with a bold ten cent manuscript rate mark.
