stunning stamp -- is it a reprint or perhaps a forgery? Impossible for me to say--found in a part of my collection gathered by my grandfather where it has set for about 90 years--in a glassine with nothing but "Basel Dove ?" on the outside. If real the stamp is one of the most valuable in the world--i'm not saying it is real--if my grandfather couldn't verify it 90 years ago then i'm not even going to try--i'm going to offer it at an opening price of $5 which is less than forgeries or reprints sell for on other auction sites--i will say this and you can see this from the scan--the color is very authentic looking as is the paper--the design and artwork are as expected in locals very crude with none the less a certain simple beauty--frankly--i just fell in love with this stamp prior to finding out its value--it feels good to look at it--to hold it. To contemplate its origins and history. It has some minor toning, 4 big margins and a solid back.

I combine s/h for all items won within 7 days--forgive me for not extending this longer but i am only one person and if i allow inventory to build up i'm worried I’ll misplace it. For that reason I would also request immediate payment by pay pal when possible.

Also—please note that I do not notify or do the ebay bookkeeping when the item is shipped—please assume it is always shipped usually within three days and never more than 5 unless I am sick. The bookkeeping for one person as well as the mailings and trips to the PO twice a week are already about as much as I can handle at my age. Be assured when you make payment your item is very shortly on its way.

Recently I have been selling my vintage guitar collection—there are buyers who believe that charging what it costs to ship a guitar is exorbitant and their evaluation has somewhat skewed my shipping feedback. Unless the stamps are oversized shipping is always $1 domestic and $3 international.

I will only ship to Italy and Russian Federation and China by registered mail so please contact for a quote if you're interested. If you are from one of these countries and bid I will invoice you for $15 extra to cover registration—if this is not acceptable please don’t bid. If i somehow don't catch a bidder from one of these countries and you win an item and chose first class mail i will issue no refunds if not shipped by registered mail.
