Here is a rare set of two 1847 Die Proof Stamps originally sold by the Mystic Stamp Company for $1800 as shown. In 1997 a discovery was made of an original 1847 American Bank Note Company engraver's proof book that contained genuine U.S. #1 and #2 Die Proofs. The book was created to showcase those early stamp designs. Only 99 rare die proof sets from this historic book exist. Here is a set of two proof stamps that Myatic Stamp Company in Camden New York sold. It includes a certificate of authenticity dated 3/4/2003. This thrilling disovery was described in Linn's Stamp News of June 2nd 1997 as 'the most amazing news of the century for that issue'. No reserve on this great set of 1847 #1 and #2 Die Proofs.
