This folded lettersheet / stampless letter has a manuscript postal marking for New Market Va, Feby 9, a 10 cents rate, and is addressed to Mr. Thos. Hudson, Loy's cross Roads, Anderson co., Ten., and is a three page letter written by John & Rebecca Sharp to 'Dear Brother in Law', meaning that John Sharp likely did the writing. On a back fold is written "Direct [your letters to] Mr. John Sharp, Weston, Platte Co. Mo." The headline is New Market 7 Feb 1847. The postal markings, which includes the handwritten name of the town, on the front cover area of the lettersheet are in the handwriting of the local Post Master.
