Postal History Wow - awesome early postal history find here!! This two page stampless folded letter was written February 11, 1847 by Jno B. Murray aboard the United States Navy Ship HENRY LONG moored in New Orleans harbor and sent to his brother William Murray, a noteworthy early ship wright (ship builder) in New Albany, Indiana. The writer has just returned from a tour of duty in Mexico, he talks about the fortifications there, cannons, visiting the Lobos Islands, Tampico, Vera Cruz, MEXICAN WAR, ships, YELLOW FEVER, attack on Vera Cruz, naval strategy and much more.
