Selling a set of vintage old silver plate by 1847 Rogers Bros in the pattern, First Love. A note inside the box stated that this set was purchased on November of 1941. 12 knives ( 4 measure 9 1/4") (8 measure 9 1/2"), 12 dinner forks (7 3/4") , 12 salad forks (6 3/4"), 24 tea spoons (6 1/4"), 8 serving or soup spoons (7 1/4"), 1 pierced serving spoon (8 1/2"), 1 meat fork 8 3/4"), 1 gravy ladle 6 1/4"), 1 sugar spoon (6") and 1 butter knife (6 1/2"). This set is in very good condition with light scratches caused from years of use. It is all polished, clean and ready to use. While taking my pictures I noticed that the knives were not even. As I looked closer I realized that four are smaller than the other eight. Also I took a close up picture as the blade is wider on the first eight as compaired to the last four in my picture. I am wondering if the set may have been an 8 place setting to begin with and they purchased the four smaller knives later. The first eight have 1847 Rogers Bros. The last four have Stainless with no Rogers name. The stainless refers to the blade of the knife as being stainless. However the pattern on each handle is the same. About the box.....Solid wood with dovetailed corners. This is the orginal box. On the inside (see picture) are two tags which I combined together as one picture. One is along the back panel which reads (LOOK FOR THE YEAR MAKER 1847 ROGERS BROS. FOR 90 YEARS AMERICAS FINEST PLATE) The other tag is along the front ( Prevent Tarnish Container, Approved by International Silver Co.) Along the inside behind the knives is a tiny black spot which shows up in picture. Also on the outside base is the head screw sticking out. I would say it came from the factory that way. (does not affect the box in any way) Over the screw was some white tape. I took the white tape off and put black tape over it as you can see by my picture which shows the tape covering it. The box is in very good condition with no scratches or chips on the box. A beautiful set for any home. Comes with a type written note from the orginal owner which reads. 1847 Rogers Brothers Silver ware. Purchased in November of 1941. All in new condition--in Tarnish Proof Chest. Email me with any questions. Comes from a smoke free home. Check out my other serving pieces up for auction at this time. other items !
