Hardback, Published by William Blackwood and Sons, Edinburgh and London, 1848. Inside the front cover is a beautiful Gentleman’s Library Label with his Coat of Arms – Sir Henry Fletcher. There are printed notes in the margin and you can dip-in and-out according to what catches your eye. The Contents pages have a very small close-set text and run to 11 pages. The Parts of the book are as follows, each with dozens of sub-sections: First Invasion of Spain by Wellington – January to November 1812Sketch of The Turkish Empire – War between the Ottomans and Russians – 1808-1812Accession of Bernadotte to the Swedish Throne and causes which led to the Russian War of 1812Description of Russia and preparations for the warAdvance of Napoleon to Moscow This is a seriously detailed history book which covers a very interesting period. There are 371 pages, including Appendix but not including the 11 Contents page. All pages are in Excellent Condition. The top edges and a few side edges have a slightly rough cut which was common at the time of manufacture. The blank pages have some faint age spots and there are one or two on the title page and last Appendix page. Inside the front and back cover and facing pages the paper is of a pale yellow colour which has darkened slightly with age. Inside the back cover the paper is slightly creased but this is obviously from manufacture. The Dark Brown Cover has an embossed design and is in Very Good Condition for its age. The corners are rubbed and the top and bottom edges are slightly bumped. The top and bottom of the spine have rubbed a little. The colour of the book is Excellent and still in Remarkable Condition for its age. Dimensions: 5 x 7.5 x 1.5 ins. From a clean, non-smoking and pet-free household.
