THE CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSH 1849 THREE FULL ISSUES, NEW YORK TRIBUNE March 10, 1849--Aug. 25, 1849--Sept. 15, 1849 A fine set of genuine newspaper that give excellent detail of the great gold finds going on in California..letters received from important people tell of the vast amount of gold being found. News in detail of the Fremont Expedition, from the frontier of Missouri to the Pacific. Letters received from Bent's Fort on the Upper Arkansas giving accounts of his explorations..describes his account of coming up on over 600 lodges of different tribes of Indians, such as those of the Apaches, Comanches, Kiowas and the Arapahoes. They found them friendly and traded small gifts with them. A section that lists hundreds of names of those who have left for California., the names of those who have arrived by steamship., many came overland with the guidance of military officers who knew the way. News of how much things are costing now that hundreds are heading west, the price of animals and food and wagons have skyrocketed. Large section gives a good account of the trail to take if you have a wagon train heading west, leaving from Fort Laramie in the Sioux Territory.
