Antique handmade cast & hand forged iron door handle with it's original hand forged thumb latch, it's original decorated cut iron door plate with the original mounting screws still present and it's original cast iron ball & ring style handle all still attached to it's original wooden door fragment and retaining it's original old natural rust & oxidized surface, as found. New England , probably Maine , 1850, probably earlier. Guaranteed old and original; this is not a fake or reproduction. Actual weight 1 lbs . Latch size 7 3/4" tall by 1 1/2" wide by 4 1⁄4" deep handle edge to latch tip. Someone in the family must have collected this from an old door and preserved it to use again. They never did and eventually it became buried in the detritus of the tool shop.
