This auction is for an 1853 "Franklin Pierce Bronze Medal" Commemorative Medallion 3" round. The obverse of the medal features a portrait of Franklin Pierce with the inscription "FRANKLIN PIERCE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES -1853-" centered round the border of the medal. The reverse side features a farmer leaning upon a plow and conversing with an Indian Chief with an American flag in the background; above it three links: "LABOR, VIRTUE, HONOR" Designer: (Obverse) Salathiel Ellis, (Reverse) J. Wilson, Franklin Mint, Composition: 90% Copper & 10% Zinc. See pictures for details.
