You are bidding on a handwritten ship logbook from December 28,1853-May 25, 1854 of the brig Charles Edward. THE CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP WAS DARIUS DOAK Built by Leowel R. Palmer in 1845. Logbook includes a list of all her masters and a vintage map with symbols of Belfast. Charles Edward made roughly 233 voyages before the ship was a total loss on the beach at Clinton pt. Connecticut. The log book mostly consists of weather, wind speed, and direction, ship course and direction, etc.. On the last few pages poetry and a pencilled horse and womans profile . Log entries 12/28 1853-5/26 1854. Condition is very good 1/2 leather marbled boards raised bands on spine labels saying Log in gold. 13.5 x 9 in.
