WOW!!!! I think any hype on this item is warranted, it is a BEAUTIFUL old-fashioned silver-plate ice pitcher, I suspect the metal underneath the silver plate is pewter but I am not sure. Please take a close look at all the pictures, the item is clearly damaged in some areas. Most of the flaws are clearly showing with the pictures, but one flaw that is hard to show is in picture 8, it is a very slight dent in the middle of that picture w the outer/inner circle details are. ANY flaws notwithstanding this pitcher is going to make an excellent addition to somebody's home/bar/collection, the tarnish adds to the old fashioned charm in a big way in my opinion. I would not be selling this item but I've decided I need the money for other things. The stamped-out wording on the bottom of this pitcher (see picture 10 in the pictures below) says around the outer part of the stamp, " FRED C. MEIER'S ICE PITCHER " and on the inner part of the stamp, " Patented Aug. 8, 1855 No. 581 " . What a fantastic collectible, somebody just might want to mortgage their GRANDMA in order to pay for this!!... Well I suppose t's no need to mortgage your grandma but feel free to bid, I very strongly suspect the winner will be happy to take home this item!!! This would look great in any home, any bar, just plain anyw I cannot offer returns on this item since it read more
