This is a very large metal 1855 Japy Freres Gold Figural Shelf Clock. This clock was awarded the G. Med D’Honor – Expo 1855 – Universelle Paris. The movement is stamped on the back, “Japy Freres & Co – G. Med D’Honor – Expo 1855 – Universelle Paris”. There is a large urn on the top decorated with roses and leaves. Detailed circles decorate around the top edge of the urn. Beaded handles curve around to the bottom. A statue of a gentleman sits on a very fancy chair with curved feet. He wears a hat with a feather and has long wavy hair and a mustache. His cape drapes around a jacket with a tie. It has long sleeves with cuffs and a puff at the shoulders. The jacket has a belt and a slightly gathered bottom. He also has a tablet in his right hand. He has on pantaloons that match the pattern of the puffed sleeves. His legs have long stockings and he is wearing strapped shoes. A statue of a lady is seated on a Victorian chair. Her hair is pulled back into a bun with a cluster of curls and a braid down her back. Her dress has flowing sleeves and cuffs at her wrists. There is a cross around her neck. A purse is attached with a rope twist strap which goes around her waist. She has a rose in her hand.
