1860 "doughnut" ferrotype issued for the successful Republican nominees for president and vice-president, Abraham Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin. Listed in Sullivan-DeWitt as AL-1860-87A, copper shell, 30 mm. or 1 1/8" in diameter with loop which may be original to the piece. Digital photos are an accurate representation. Ferrotype on Lincoln side is perfectly flat and smooth, with some scattered light scratches. Hamlin ferrotype is also flat, but has some areas of loss along the perimeter, as shown, plus an overall network of very fine crazing, visible when viewed at an angle or upon magnification.
