This is an 1860 Colt Army fluted cylinder, of which only some 4,000 were made (this one's serial number is just over 2,000). The early ones were of the fluted cylinder variety followed by the standard engraved cylinder variety for the next 150,000 or so made. This one is in excellent to near mint condition with almost all the blue still intact. The barrel has some pitting in it so it was probably not cleaned after it's last use long ago. The gun comes in an original Colt mahogany wood felt lined case which is also in terrific condition and comes with original key. Inside are authentic Colt tools, signed double bullet mold (ball and mini), original unopened tin of COLT brand percussion caps, some pre-molded lead bullets and a signed COLT copper + brass powder flask with some original blued finish still remaining. Most people think these flasks were of bright copper and just tarnish over time but they were actually finished with a blued laquer so they would match the gun and it very rare to have this much bluing still showing. The Colt 1860 Army was the main side arm of the Union Army during the Civil War and was a six shot .44 caliber weapon. The gun is in perfect working order and looks in near new condition with just a couple of minor marks. Email me if you have questions or want more pictures at .
