Original 1860 color mapby W. Hughes and published by A & C Black depicting Central Europe. The title read ' Map of Central Europe embracing Germany, Holland, Belgium, France & Switzerland showing the roads, Canals, railways by W. Hughes '. Also, under the title examples of what is used within the map to illustrate Principal Roads, Ordinary roads, railways already opened, railways which are projected or in progress, steam packet routes, European and Submarine Telegraph routes. The scales in the lower left depict English Miles, German Geographical Miles, French Post leagues and Swiss Stunden. Exceptional map with very handsome colors, crisp engraving, highly detailed and measuring 25 x 17 1/4. Center fold as issued. US or Canadian buyer - same postage. International buyers always welcome.
