Box 921Redlands, CA 92373 Redlands Historical Glass Museum has a vast and growing collection of American made glassware dating from the 18 th century to present contemporary glass. On display in a 1905 Victorian cottage is the largest collection of American glassware west of the Mississippi River. Nine rooms in the museum divide the historical glass collection of over 7,000 examples of American made glassware by specific groups: American Depression Glass, American Brilliant Cut Glass, Early American Pattern Glass, Elegant American Glassware, American Victorian Art Glass, and Glass from Yesterday’s Kitchen. Glass exhibits are displayed, by maker, in custom built illuminated showcases. Individually printed cards provide information about each exhibited piece and the name of its donor. Displays include glassware from nearly every American factory including Cambridge, Corning, Duncan, Fenton, Fostoria, Fry, Heisey, Morgantown, Steuben, Tiffin, Tiffany, Westmoreland, Sandwich, and nearly every known American maker of vintage, depression-era and contemporary glassware. Visitors will be awed by rare and beautiful vases, compotes, stemware, goblets, plates, milk glass, cranberry glass, vaseline glass, carnival glass, satin glass, children's play dishes, epergnes, candlesticks, salts, kerosene lamps, and many more glass items found in the homes of yesteryear. There are also sizeable private collections of Jadite, Steuben, American Brilliant cut glass, Mary Gregory, milk glass, depression glass, cruets, paperweights, bells, kitchen glass items, glass from the Liberace estate, and the only known complete 13 step goblet etching process set. One of the 'best kept secrets' of local antique collectors is the Historical Glass Museum's Antique and Gift Shop. Two rooms in the Historical Glass Museum antique and gift shop offer a delightful array of antiques and gifts. You’ll find unique antiques, collector's plates, vintage glassware, collector's books, art glass by local artists plus a variety of other one-of-a-kind treasures that will truly 'make your day’. The Historical Glass Museum Foundation was founded in 1976 by a group of dedicated glass collectors. The group's goal was to establish a museum to preserve beautiful American glassware and to acknowledge the influence American glass manufactures have on our culture. The Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt entity operated by a voluntary Board of Directors, under the leadership of foundation president Frank Herendeen. Members are individuals, students, families, dealers, museums, glass clubs, and other supportive groups. Mission Statement: The Historical Glass Museum Foundation’s mission is to: 1. Acquire, document, exhibit, and preserve representative samples of American glassmaking throughout history. 2. Research early glassmaking techniques and products, and develop an extensive library available to members and legitimate researchers. 3.
