We found this portrait frame, one of a pair we are listing, hanging in the front hall of the main home. They had not always hung t The family had found these in the attic and resurrected them as display. Evidently these are old family relatives but we never actually discussed this with the family. They mentioned finding them in the attic and hanging them up. We expected them to take them with them but t they were hanging in the same place when we began the clean out. Each frame is a classic Civil War era gold gilt beauty containing a... photographic engraving of a ... Civil War era beauty. Each frame is a complete package as we found it but one may wish to use the frame for another service. As each frame is; as found with original contents, they are fine period specimens; attractive with attractive portraits and delightfully very Civil War era. It fact that is the best thing about these; that they are sooooo what they are in gold gilt too! If one appreciates them fully as they are, one may, very instantly, have hang-up gold gilt ancestors who truly & totally are the part they be. This one has neatly "Aunt Nancy Kimball" penciled on the back. She is a fine young Victorian woman. Very good as found condition. Both frames have light, natural and appropriate wear & rubbing to the exposed gilt surfaces on the front and a few very small and minor chips. Otherwise t is nothing wrong with this frame and it's portrait. Right out of the main house, it has appropriate surface oxidation, age toning and lightest soiling for it's age and from it's old farm residence. Please see photographs. As found this past March in an estate in Black Point , Maine . This was in the main house. We have done nothing to it at all; it is just as we found it. It looks like good one to us! We offer this fine oval gilt gesso Civil War era portrait frame for $4.99 NR..
