This is a wonderful antique iron buggy whip rack. It was hand-forged by a blacksmith around 1860 in South Texas. It is the original rack with no repairs or alterations. The photos are taken of all sides of the rack. The last photo in this listing shows 6 antique primitive cooking utensils hanging from the rack. I have listed those 6 utensils in a separate ebay listing. The lisiting number is 190223129470, also listed in antique primitives and starts/ends 15 minutes after this listing. The buggy whip rack was used to display buggy whips for sale in the harness shop in Midlothian, Texas from the late 1800s till around 1915. After that, the buggy whip rack was used on the Anderson Ranch just outside of Midlothian to hold those very cooking utensils that I have listed. I bought the rack and the utensils from the Anderson Ranch in the 1960s and have had them in my museum since then. The buggy whip rack is 9.5" tall and is 11" in diameter. It has 12 hooks and 1 long hook in the very center inside the rack that can be used to hold a pot or heavier utensil. The iron chain is original and is 29" long. The rack and the 6 utensils are in very excellent condition, having been well-taken care of for the last 150 years! This will be a focus piece in your Western Americana or country kitchen; they are rare to find. A wise collector would bid on both the rack and the 6 utensils to keep them together. Shipping will be combined on both items. The rack and the utensils are museum quality and either or both will be a fabulous addition to your blacksmith hand forged iron and primitives collections. This is wonderful Americana as well as a Texas collectible! My name is Jack Glover, I had the Cowboy Museum in downtown San Antonio from 1990 till 2001 as well as The Old West Museum in Sunset, Texas in the Red River area of North Texas. My museum is now in beautiful Wimberley, Texas on the Blanco River. Stop and visit. Thanks for looking!
