Antique cast and spun brass door bell with it's original, old & complete iron mount, pleasing classic tone and retaining it's original old surface, as found. Maine , 1860's, possibly earlier. Guaranteed old and original; this is not a fake or reproduction. Actual weight 1 lbs. 7 1/4" tall by 4 1/2" wide by 4 ½" extended from the wall (deep). Cast and spun brass door bell with it's original, old & complete iron mount, pleasing classic tone and retaining it's original old dry surface, as found. These are not encountered often. A traditional brass bell is mounted on a cast iron bracket and curled spring steel to form, when a cord is attached at the bracket's head, a door bell. The cord is gently pulled, the bell gently moves on the spring and gently rings. No buzzer, no glow-in-the-dark button, no electric bing-bong-bong-bing. Just a small bell ringing. And we mean ring. It does not tinkle. Nor does it clang. It is a finely balance and not too loud tone; a very pleasing to the nervous system ring. It's best defined as that quintessential ring one hears as one opens the door to a small proprietary shop when out holiday shopping. It rings, it bothers no one, it stops ringing promptly and is pleasing to hear. We actually removed this from the front door, from under the entry roof, of the estate.
