19th Century Copeland Parian Bust Of Shakespeare’s 'Ophelia' by Marshall R A Sculpt This is a beautiful Parian bisque porcelain bust of Ophelia with the head slightly turned to the left and with flowers and leaves in her hair. The back of the bust is stamped :- 'OPHELIAW C MARSHALL R A SCULPTCOPELAND'. I inherited this piece from my father, and it has been in the family for many decades. If it looks unusually clean for its age, it's because I cleaned it in the wife's dishwasher. Works like magic! Ophelia is a character in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. She is a young noblewoman of Denmark, the daughter of Polonius, sister of Laertes, and potential wife of Prince Hamlet. As one of the few female characters in the play, she is used as a contrasting plot device to Hamlet's mother, Gertrude. Dimensions: The statue has a height of 9 inches and width of 6.25 inches. Condition: The statue is in very good condition. It has no cracks or chips. Please see my other listings for other fabulous Victorian collectables.
