Greetings! In the next few weeks I'll be listing more great items from a couple of private clients who collected diverse and quality items. Remember, when you invest in a good piece -- another one (or thirty) will not pop up immediately -- or be replaced on the shop shelf within minutes. PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH MY 'AUCTION CONDITIONS' BELOW BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN MY AUCTIONS. I've tried to avoid the listing 'diatribes', but for fair trade for all -- I do need to lay out the way I do business ahead of time. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT I NOW RUN 5 DAY AUCTIONS ONLY. I am using the 'Buy it Now/Make an Offer' option for several of the better pieces from this client -- her pieces are particularly interesting, and deserve a fair market value/price. DON'T HESITATE TO MAKE AN OFFER, IF YOU LOOK AT MY PAST FEW AUCTIONS YOU WILL CLEARLY SEE THAT I WILL ACCEPT REASONABLE OFFERS!
This auction is for not only a wonderful circa 1860s - 1870s GUTTA PERCHA case/frame, but for a daguerrotype photograph/picture that has an historical context. The subject is Lucy Naomi Bartlett -- the great-great (I believe that's the right amount of greats!)granddaughter of JOSIAH BARTLETT , who was one of the signers of the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE . The client I'm selling for is a Bartlett -- and she has the family tree all laid out (I think you could also find this by 'Googling' it). You can see the old photograph next to the case -- and the subject is definitely the same girl. I've also given you a shot of the back of the photo w the subject is identified (the photo -- not in the case -- is a later photo of her). The case itself measures 2 1/2" wide by 3" high. It is in top condition -- no dings, scratches, chips, etc., and the original brass hinges are intact and work smoothly. The interior purple velvet is a plush and colorful as the day it was inserted. ESPECIALLY nice is the VERY ornate gold frame holding the oval picture of Lucy. An organic motif with copious florals and leaves surrounding the oval, and with stars in each corner of the outer rim -- again -- it's immaculate -- no discoloring. It certainly looks to me as though it might be gold-filled, but that's nothing I can substantiate. You will get both the gutta percha case/frame and both photos with this auction. Great piece for collectors with some nice historical backround. I've found that folks will usually pay a fair price for quality and unusual items -- so you may want to grab it while you can! Thanks for looking, have a great week . AUCTION CONDITIONS: PLEASE READ and make sure you're OK with them. Thanks. SHIPPING: I will ship within 5-7 business days -- I have other obligations, and feel that's the best I can honestly promise. All my packing materials are recycled from local businesses -- please recycle when you receive them. POSTAGE: I state almost all my postage costs ahead of time. I do not charge shipping/handling fees, and try to keep shipping as low as possible. I can do nothing about increasing shipping/fuel prices. INSURANCE: Is required on all delicate items, and with it you also get a tracking number in case anything happens in shipment. If you prepay without insurance, I can't be responsible if the item is broken or lost. For insurance with USPS you may add $1.50/$100 of value. For DHL Delivery you add $1.00/$100 of value. COMMUNICATION: A big concern for me, reasonable communication can solve almost any issue. I do not have a computer at home (by choice), so email me with questions early, and it make take me a day or two to respond. FEEDBACK: I always leave it, but do it every 2 weeks or so when I catch up with my ebay 'paperwork'. I SELL ON EBAY BECAUSE I ENJOY FINDING AND PROVIDING INTERESTING ITEMS FOR FOLKS. IT'S MY LIVING FOR THE MOST PART -- BUT T'S LITTLE PASSION FOR IT IF I DON'T FEEL LIKE I'M PROVIDING GOOD SERVICE AND UNIQUE MERCHANDISE. LET'S ENJOY THIS SHARED TRANSACTION!
