Wonderful and quite rare, 1860's, ninth plate Ambrotype of an Unidentified Civil War Soldier . This great Civil War Soldier Ambrotype measures approx. 2" x 2 1/2" and pictures the young bearded soldier in uniform and wearing his kepi. The image is not cased but the ORIGINAL PAPER TAPE SEALS ARE INTACT AND THE PLATE HAS NEVER BEEN OPENED. This beautiful Civil War soldier Ambrotype is in excellent condition with no breaks, cracks, surface loss, scratches or surface crazing. The focus is very sharp (even sharper than it appears in the digital images below), the contrast is strong and the tonality rich. The image came from an estate in North Eastern Massachusetts and we believe that it may have New Hampshire ties. Of course, it is 100% guaranteed original and of the period. A simple yet striking Civil War Soldier Ambrotype with intact seals and a fantastic addition to any collection!!! Please add $4.75 p&h to bid price (all shipping done USPS Priority Mail).

Insurance is required on all purchases of $100 or more and optional on all purchases under $100 (though strongly recommended). Overseasshippping is extra and cost will be quoted at bidders request. Massachusetts residents must add 5% sales tax.

An added note about the p&h charge:We list this charge up front so that our bidders can take this into account when

IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: We NEVER use the Second Chance Offer system on eBay. T is an ongoing scam involving Second Chance Offers that eBay has been unable to put an end to. The scam artist sends an email to under bidders on expensive items. They say that they are the seller and use eBay's Mail forwarding system to send emails that look like Second Chance Offers. They try to get the under bidder to wire transfer payment to a foreign account (the email even makes it look like eBay wants the item to be paid for by wire transfer).

We will NEVER send a Second Chance Offer on any of the items we sell - If you should get a Second Chance Offer related to one of our items SEND NO MONEY - forward the email (with full headers) to " with an explanation of the circumstance.Pass the word about this new scam - eBay is dropping the ball on this problem!!
