Here is a super nice grade genuine Civil War Confederate States of America $5 note, issued at Richmond, September 2nd, 1861. Features central vignette of goddess Ceres seated on cotton bales; Confederate sailor leans on capstan at left; fancy "5" at right. Back is blank as issued. ( Certificate of Authenticity provided at no charge ) Serial #143088. Hand signed and numbered by Confederate officials W. Rothrock, for Register and H.H. Goodlow, for Treasurer. Printed by " J.T. Paterson & Co., Columbia, S.C." below Treasurer signature. A super grade for this note. Bright, fresh and fully crisp with just a few very light handling folds.
