State of Alabama $1, dated January 1st, 1863. From the 1st series. Serial # 39347 hand written at the top left. Very conservatively graded and encapsulated by PMG " GEM UNCIRCULATED 65 EPQ " with comments on the backside reading " EXCEPTIONAL PAPER QUALITY ." Dark printing. Nice eye appeal. Fully framed and nicely balanced. Light green under print on the front. Crisp paper with NO folds, creases, tears, ink erosion, or major condition issues to mention. A very small bit of paper toning and a few scattered pinholes. This note reads: "The State of Alabama will pay to bearer ONE DOLLAR in sums of Twenty dollars & Upwards" and Redeemable in Confederate States Treasury Notes when presented at the State Treasury".
