DANIEL D. DAVIS 1864-FAMILY ALBUM CARTE DE VISITES Photographic album with 16 mostly carte de visite images of attractive young women, a matron or two, one man (tintype) and one women (tintype). Many Davis family Photos. Album signed "Daniel D. Davis, Trenton, NJ, 107 Jackson Street" in pencil on opposite side of the flyleaf. Album made by the Photographic Album, NY, D. Appleton & Co, 443 & 445 Broadway, 1864 . Leather covers with scuffed corners, clasp intact, generally sound. One loose page in the front, not a photo page. Measures 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". CARTE DE VISITE INCLUDED Child with ringlet curls, in wonderful long fringed bullion chair with ornate wood carved table. Back reads J. Bainbridge Photographer, No. 28 Broad Street, Trenton N.J.. Bust of Women in wonderful period clothing and jewelry. The bottom is signed Very Truly Yours in fountain pen. The back is blank except for the inscription in pencil-Your Friend A.E. Gihsail. Full body from the knee's up of a women in just a wonderful full bustled dress with elegant cuffs and trim. The back states "Strange" in pencil, perhaps she hated the picture!! Another great bust of a woman in period dress with a lacey high neck dress with necklace. Back of card very ornate and says G.W. Pach Photographer No. 841 Broadway Cor. 13th St., New York Branches at Harvard and Yale, Poughkeepsie. Long Branch, and West Point. Ocean Grove. A 1/2 body shot of a women with very full lips dressed in white and dark lace. The back of the card states Beer & Co., 13 E. State St., (Mansion House,) Trenton, N.J.. Almost full body shot of a woman in very nice period dress with bustle, and jewelry. Carved chair is her resting place. On the bottom it states Sarony, 680 Broadway, the back is signed in pencil Adelaide Phillips. Wonderful raised oval picture of a women ( Cameo Style ), bust with turned head. Very delicate women in this album. Long Banana curls, lace neck bow and earrings. The back of the card states "J. Bainbridge Photographer, No. 28 Broad Street, Trenton N.J.. Picture of 2 darling children that look like siblings and closely resemble the women of the Cameo. They are sitting on a wonderful Chair with long bullion fringe with a carved table beside them. Looks to be the same setting as image # 1. One child (toddler) is sitting on the chair in a sweet dress with black shoes, and one is standing next to her, she looks to be about 5. She is wearing a long skirt with a sash and lace up boots. The back of the card states "J. Bainbridge Photographer, No. 28 Broad Street, Trenton N.J.." Very nice image of a young girl with a bow in her very long wavy hair draped off the shoulders in a black cloth. The back of the card is blank. This one must be the matriarch of the family for above her picture in the album it states Great Grandmother Davis. Dressed in a very dark dress with a white Pilgrim type head covering. T is nothing on the back of this card. Next we have a precious little baby girl in a wonderful full petticoat dress. She's sitting in her highchair. The back of the card reads J.C. Scott, Photographer 226 Burnett St., New Brunswick, N.J.. We have another pretty lady with jewelry and a lace collar. She resembles Grandma Davis, may be her daughter. The back of the card states "J. Bainbridge No. 28 Broad Street, Trenton N.J.." we have another baby, may be a little boy dressed in a dress with what looks to be a bib, with black boots. The back of the card states "Photographed by H.C. Lovejoy, No.10 West State St., Trenton, N.J.. Another very lovely woman dressed in a magnificent bustled dress, honestly the biggest one I have ever seen. Lovely lace and ribbons and even a wonderful hat. She is standing next to a high carved piece of furniture. The back of the card is blank. A lovely young girl maybe 11 or 12 with her hair pulled back with a large bow and a lacy collar. The pink back of the card states A. Beer & Co. Photographic Studio, No. 13 East State Street, Trenton, N.J.. Fat little ba...
