Description: This is an original engraved antique map of NEBRASKA, DAKOTA, MONTANA, WYOMING and IDAHO in great shape with vibrant handcoloring. It comes from an 1872 Johnson's Family Atlas and has the following inscription in small letters at the bottom of the map: Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1865, by A.J. Johnson in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States, for the Southern District of New York. This map features Johnson's beautiful new border design, which first appeared in his 1870 edition. This map is exceptionally rare, from one of the last years of Johnson's Atlas and seldom seen on eBay. Dimensions: The map image measures approximately 16 by 22 inches on an 18 by 26 page, as published. Condition: This map is in excellent overall condition. No spots or water marks. A 1" by 2" piece at the bottom left corner was torn loose and has been archival taped (on the rear) back in place. This tear is a minimum of 1" away from the fancy Johnson border, so it will be invisible upon matting/framing. Not a significant problem, just mentioned for complete disclosure! Has light, even overall toning giving a nice antique look to this 140-year old Johnson map. Coloring is bright and this will be beautiful framed. Additional pictures gladly emailed if needed to aid your evaluation. Guarantee: Full refund if not satisfied; buyer pays for return shipping. Shipping: This item will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail, in a heavy 3" x 24" tube.
