Available to you is this rare original Harpers Weekly 1865 bound volume # 9, It includes the complete year from January 7th, 1865 through December 30th, 1865. It is profusely illustrated with excellent engravings with numerous Civil War pictures as well as extensive coverage of the presidents assassination and the following extensive manhunt that followed. And the true abolishment of slavery. A wealth of historical information in the text as well as very interesting advertisements. It has a total of 832 pages and is complete with all the great illustrations by well known artists of the time, THOMAS NAST, WINSLOW HOMER, A.W.WARREN, A.R. WAND, ALFRED FREDERICKS, FORBS, and others. Double page engravings are tucked or tipped in. This is a hard bound volume, and the binding is tight, it is very readable as the pages are not brittle, T are a couple minor tears and a little foxing or age discoloration on a few pages. The front board is detached and the leather cover over the binding has deteriorated and came off. This book measures approx. 16 1/2" X 11" X 2 1/4". The covers and corners exhibit wear. All that being said it is still in very good condition.
