1865 Group Photo of Those who Helped Pass the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution, banning Slavery, including Abraham Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin. Extremely Fine. This unusual, oval, collage photograph, measuring 11 x 9-1/2` mounted over 13-1/2 x 10-1/2` card, consists of photographic portraits of over 100 Congressmen who voted to pass the 13th Amendment to the Constitution (banning Slavery), plus larger portraits of Abraham Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin, who were President and Vice-President when the Amendment was proposed. In the very center is a facing portrait of Schuyler Colfax, who is surrounded by numerous small portraits, probably of members of the house of Representatives. Around these are two rings of slightly larger portraits, who are probably Senators. A copyright notice appears in almost microscopic letters at the bottom of the bottom of the photograph: `Entered According to Act of Congress in the year 1865 by Powell & Co., New York.` Good condition with light foxing on the borders.
