1865 J. H. Barrett Life, Speeches & Public Services of Abraham Lincoln 1865 First Edition, The Year of Lincoln's Death Published just months after his death making this a wonderful source of information for anyone studying this great President. Or for that matter, an excellent research tool for those studying the Civil War, and all the events leading up to it. This is an "Illustrated" Book so has numerous illustrations, we included some of them to give you an idea of what you are getting. From the Preface: The first part of the sketch of Mr. Lincolns life with presented to the public, was mainly prepared for the press in June 1860 - only slight modifications having been made, and brief additions, so as to embrace the period terminating with his inauguration. This portion of the work embodies a condensed view of Mr. Lincolns speeches, which can not fail to interest the attentive student, who seeks for information concerning his early political life. The second part, after a summary of National events immediately preceding March 4, 1861, gives a condensed history of Mr. Lincolns Administration, including a narrative of military operations down to the present time. The most important public papers, addresses and occasional letters of the President, will also be found in the following pages. (this section was completed in 1864) The third part of the work comprises the events of the last year of Mr. Lincolns life, with his public papters and addresses of the same period, as well as many letters and speeches of an earlier date, not given in the previous parts......Washington, D.C. The spine cover is missing part at the top (shown in the picture), and is starting to show cracking at the covers. Put a library cover on it, and you have an excellent research book.
