Americana pamphlet : CONSPIRACY TRIALSpeed, James. Opinion on the Constitutional Power of the Military to Try and Execute the Assassins of the President. Washington: Government Printing Office, 1865.16 pp. pamphlet recently bound in two-toned paper covered boards with gilt-printed spine lettering. Printed wrappers were not retained. No major wear--light toning, faint browning at edges and a small stain on title page, extending, in decreasing size, about halfway through.The opinion of the Attorney General as to whether the trial should take place in a civilian or military court.Select References: Monaghan 739.Beware the People Weeping: Public Opinion and the Assassination of Abraham ...
