This brass token measures about the same size of a cent (19mm) and was issued by the Whitney Glass Works in Glassboro, New Jersey in 1869.The writing on this token states "WHITNEY GLASS WORKS NJ" (with a wicker covered demi-john bottle in center) and the back states "DUE BEARER IN M'DZE AT OUR STORE- ONE CENT WHITNEY BROS. 1869" (note: M'DZE is an abbreviation for merchandise). One of the more famous glass houses in the US who made a lot of historically significant bottles including the "Indain Queen" and the "EG BOOZ" bottles, this is a very rare glass token that would be fitting in any collection of South Jersey glass.
