is a post civil war button that dates from 1870, it was taken off a uniform at some point. This button has the Great Seal of Virginia depicted on the front. It shows the Roman goddess Virtus standing over a defeated opponent. It has Sic Semper Tyrannia written around the edge of the button under the defeated opponent. Across the top t are 11 stars with 2 more stars under the long row on either side of Virtus's head. Stamped on the back is 'Waterbury Button Co.' I had them looked at by the local civil war expert and he gave me most of my information and the date. Two of the buttons were made into screw-back earrings, listing those next. The condition of the button is great, no damage anyw except for ones that were made into earrings, they took the loop off the back of those. The buttons all have the same vintage patina and have not been polished. Payment by check, money order or Paypal will be great. We will combine wins to the same address to save on postage. We ship in about 24 hours, postage for this item will be $5.05 for priority mail. Thanks for taking the time to look. Linda
