LOW RESERVE

The obverse design is a bust of Liberty facing right,

with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on a scroll below.

Liberty is wearing a cap ornamented with two stars, and a ribbon crossing her shoulder is inscribed LIBERTY in incuse letters.

The reverse has the denomination 50 CENTS and the date 1870 within a wreath of cotton and corn, with the inscription STANDARD above. Struck in silver with a reeded edge.
